Virtual auditory space: an educational resource for visually impaired students
Antonio Eff-Darwich (Universidad de La Laguna / Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias), Pere L. Pallé (Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias)
We are implementing a simple instrumental project, based on the electronic kit Arduino and the Scratch programming language to create a sound emission system through various speakers. The combination of these sounds create a 3D auditory space that allows to 'place' virtual objects in space, such as planets revolving around the sun, stars in the sky, graphic and other educational resources classically associated with the visual. In this way we try to bring astronomy and other sciences to the public with severe visual impairment.
