Abstract
I will present recent constraints on cosmic opacity, obtained by combining SN Type Ia data with the latest measurements of the Hubble expansion at redshifts between 0 and 2. Various models of beyond the standard model physics that predict violation of photon number conservation contribute to cosmic opacity and can be equally constrained. I will discuss a number of such models involving axion-like particles, chameleons, and mini-charged particles, and will present constraints on the relevant coupling/mass parameters.
