Abstract
In the 1960s space age, scientists found the need to study how life adapts to space conditions and established the interdisciplinary field known as Astrobiology. Since then, Astrobiology has grown hand-in-hand with robotic and human space exploration to understand the limits of life as we know it, and assess the potential habitability of other planetary bodies. Space Microbiology is one of many Astrobiology sub-fields, that explores the limits of life by exposing microorganisms to extreme conditions and extraterrestrial environments. Space Microbiology experiments range from laboratory simulations, through Mars analogue sites on Earth, and real space missions to the International Space Station (ISS) and missions around the Moon!
