Abstract
This talk delves into the intricate physics and mixing processes of intermediate-mass A and F stars, both on and near the main sequence. It emphasizes their unique variability, as captured by Kepler and TESS, probing into the underlying mechanisms. The focus will be on various subgroups of these stars, particularly those exhibiting Rossby and gravity pulsation modes, alongside stellar spots. A key highlight will be the recent results of 200+ A and F stars potentially harbouring a subsurface dynamo mechanism, a process that could be responsible for magnetic field generation. The detection of magnetic fields in these stars, beyond the well-known Ap stars, has become increasingly significant following the discovery of internal magnetic fields in their evolved counterparts, the red giants. The presentation will also delve into the unique insights provided by chemically peculiar stars, serving as valuable astrophysical laboratories for examining intricate mixing processes, such as atomic diffusion, convection, rotation, and their interplay.
