Abstract
Different molecules and elements absorb/reflect light at different wavelengths and with different intensities. As such the constituents of an exoplanet atmosphere imprint their spectral signature on the light a planet reflects from its host. In this seminar I will present the main results from my PhD project on how the cross-correlation function of high-resolution spectra with a binary mask can be used to probe the atmosphere of an exoplanet.
