Abstract
An ideal engine for producing relativistic jets is a rotating black hole threaded by a magnetic field. I present a model for an axisymmetric, steady magnetosphere around a Kerr black hole. Using the 3+1 formalism (Thorne et al. 1986) to write the GRMHD equations and assuming meridional self similarity, analytical solutions for jets can be found for which the streamline shape is calculated exactly. I show that the black hole rotation induces a more efficient magnetic collimation of the jet.
