Abstract
In recent years a drastic reduction in the solar oxygen abundance has been proposed (Allende Prieto et al. 2001, Asplund et al. 2004, Melendez 2004, Socas-Navarro & Norton 2007). This new solar abundance (A(O) = 8.6 - 8.7) has a profound impact in many areas of astrophysics. In particular, solar models computed with the low oxygen abundance do not agree with precise helioseismological measurements. I will review the different oxygen features available for abundance analysis and show new results which lend more confidence to a low solar oxygen abundance.
