Abstract
Imaging in optical interferometry is definitively the path to follow with the advent of interferometers with large aperture. The VLTI has an important way to play, since it is a unique interferometric site with 4 relocable 2m-class telescopes in addition to the 4 Very Large Telescopes. However moving from model-fitting of visibilities obtained with only 2 or 3 telescopes to image reconstruction with a full array of telescopes is not trivial. Therefore we have made simulations of what we can expect from the VLTI both with AMBER and the 8-way beam combining instrument project called VITRUV. We have taken the environment of young stellar objects (YSOs) as an example in order to quantify the image reconstruction quality.
