Abstract
Stellar evolution remains today one of the key problems in computational astrophysics. The discipline rests in firm theoretical grounds but new and precise observations, especially asteroseismic ones, are a constant test for the numerical models. In this Cookie I will talk about MESA, a relatively new, open-source, suite of software libraries for applications in stellar astrophysics. MESA Star is a modern one-dimensional stellar evolution code, capable of simulations in a wide range of scenarios. I will present some of the capabilities of the code as well as my own use of it for asteroseismology.
