Panorama of Radio Astronomy in Brazil

Carlos Alberto P. da Silva
BERG, Brazilian Educational Radioastronomy Group

Abstract
Brazil began its journey in radio astronomy in the 1960s. We will take a brief look at the paths this field of Brazilian science has followed over the past decades. The presentation will cover projects such as the Pierre Kaufmann Radio Observatory (ROPK), the Northeast Space Radio Observatory (ROEN), and the recently developed BINGO, the largest radio telescope in Latin America, among others. Finally, we will introduce a series of initiatives led by the Brazilian Educational Radioastronomy Group (BERG), aimed at demystifying the subject for the general public and inspiring interest among new generations.
