Abstract
Writing a successful telescope proposal not only needs a good science case, but often a training to effectively communicate an idea and impress a evaluator (often stressed out) to quickly understand the importance of the proposal. Also, various factors other than the referees have an impact on the time allocation for a given facility which is essential to be remembered while planning a proposal. In this cookie seminar I will discuss some of these issues, focussing on the ESO proposal system as an example.
