Looking beyond the inflaton sector: why should we be interested in spectators?

Sami Nurmi

Abstract
Spectators are matter fields different from the inflaton sector and energetically subdominant during inflation. Primordial physics of spectator scalars could be linked to various observables and play an important role in testing and constraining the Standard Model of particle physics and its extensions. l will discuss how spectator dynamics during inflation and reheating may connect to the stability of the electroweak vacuum, the origin of structures and the dark matter sector.
